Why I love Charcuterie Boards
When it comes to making Charcuterie Boards, the options are endless! Feel free to replicate mine or swap ingredients for what you have on hand. This board consists of mostly fresh fruit, homemade waffles, chocolate, nuts, some gluten-free cookies.
The great thing about this recipe is that you can prepare everything ahead of time and assemble when you're ready to serve for breakfast or brunch! If you want the waffles or pancakes hot, just prepare the batter and cook before serving.
🍴Ingredient Notes
- Fresh Fruit - Green Grapes, Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Orange or any other fruit you would like.
- Dark Chocolate Bar - I broke apart a dark chocolate bar, but you could use white chocolate or chocolate candies!
- Chocolate Chips - For dipping strawberries or clementines.
- Gluten-Free Cookies - I used Siete Foods cookies, but I also love Hu Kitchen.
- Homemade Waffles - I used my Cassava Flour Pancake recipe to make the waffles. (Use this waffle maker if you want mini waffles!) You can also swap for mini pancakes!
- Nuts - I used almonds, but you can swap for any nuts you have on hand.
- Other Ingredients - You could also add bacon, granola, a small bowl with maple syrup, or chocolate covered coffee beans! Get creative!
Choosing a Board
I used a small wooden board from Marshalls, but any large plate, marble platter, or wooden platter will work. Mine is a rectangle, but they also make square and round boards!
World Market also has a great variety of small wood and marble charcuterie boards.
Chocolate Covered Fruit
For this board I made chocolate covered strawberries, but you could also dip clementines or orange slices! (You might want to try my Matcha Strawberries!)
Melt the chocolate in 20 second increments until it's smooth and creamy. Dip the fruit into the chocolate and place on a parchment paper lined plate or baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to set.
🍴Step by Step Instructions
- Start by preparing all of your ingredients. Dip fruit in chocolate, cook waffles etc.
- Once everything is ready, start by placing the small cups/jars on the board first. Build around each jar with cookies, fruit etc. Keep adding ingredients until your board is completely covered.
- Top board with smaller items like chocolate squares, orange slices, and chocolate covered strawberries.
- Let guests serve themselves! Enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Start by adding the small ingredients into glass or ceramic bowls. (Nuts, chocolate chips, berries etc.)
- Build the board around the stationary items. After I placed the bowls down, I put cookies around each bowl and scattered a stack of waffles on each side.
- Don't worry about how it looks, just keep adding a few ingredients to each area until the board is completely covered. You can always adjust after the items are placed down.
- I topped the board with smaller items like orange slices and chocolate chunks.
- It's best to prepare the items before assembling the board. I made the waffles, dipped the strawberries, and rinsed all the fruit first.
- Chill the chocolate covered fruit for at least 15 minutes to ensure the chocolate has set.
How to store leftovers
Store leftover fruit in airtight containers in the refrigerator. I also suggest storing chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. Waffles can be frozen or refrigerated!
If the cookies get soggy from touching the fruit you can refrigerate them as well. If not, store them in a sealed bag.
