🍴Smoothie Ingredients
- Oranges - To give this smoothie a fresh orange flavor you will need two peeled oranges.
- Coconut Milk - Any chilled non-dairy milk will work! I used coconut milk, but almond milk, oat milk, and cashew milk are great options too.
- Vanilla Protein Powder - You can also use two scoops of vanilla collagen powder. My favorite Paleo friendly protein brands are Amy Myers Vanilla Protein Powder and Ancient Nutrition Vanilla Bone Broth Protein Powder.
Recipe Variations
- Add in two tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almond butter, sunflower butter, or shredded coconut for some healthy fats!
- For a richer vanilla flavor, add in ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Swap the coconut milk for full-fat coconut milk in the can to make an even thicker and creamier smoothie.
- If you're not dairy-free try adding in ¼ cup of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese to add more protein! You could also use vanilla coconut yogurt.
- For extra sweetness, add in a ripe banana!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Using fruit is a great way to add more health benefits to a protein shake. Oranges provide extra nutrients, fiber, and natural sweetness.
Typically, I would say water is a great choice for smoothies, but for this recipe the milk adds creaminess and flavor. I would not substitute the coconut milk for water.

Serving Suggestions
This smoothie is great on its own, but to jazz it up you can top with fresh coconut whipped cream, orange zest, shaved chocolate, or stick an orange wedge on the side of your cup.
How to store leftovers
Store leftovers in a glass cup with a lid like a mason jar in the refrigerator or freezer. (It will not stay as thick in the refrigerator.)
You can also make smoothie ice cubes by pouring leftovers into a silicone ice cube tray and freeze for later! (Or meal prep by doubling the recipe!)
Blend the frozen cubes with a non-dairy milk or freshly squeezed orange juice for a quick and easy smoothie.
