🍴Ingredient Notes
To make air fryer chicken sausages all you'll need is an air fryer and pre-cooked sausages.
Chicken Sausage - Any pre-cooked chicken sausage will work with this recipe. I used Bilinski's Organic Mild Italian with Bell Peppers, but they have a variety of flavors like Sweet Apple & Honey, Cilantro with Lime, and Lemon Herb.
My two favorite brands are Bilinski's and Applegate. Both are organic, Whole30 friendly, and raised with no antibiotics.
You can find both brands at most local grocery stores!
Air Fryer Options
I actually have two styles of air fryers and recommend both depending on what fits best with your lifestyle.
The first type of air fryer I have is what is shown in this post - the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Oven. This appliance is bigger and sits on my kitchen counter.
It looks more like a mini oven than an air fryer! You can use a baking tray or the metal basket. (It comes with both.) This oven can air fry, toast, bake, or dehydrate and flips up to save on counter space when it's not in use. (I use it as an air fryer and toaster the most.)
The second type of air fryer I have is a basket style air fryer. This air fryer is portable and can be stored in a pantry or cabinet. Both styles can be used with this recipe!
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Chicken Sausages
Start by adding the uncooked chicken sausages onto a baking tray or air fryer basket. (If you use a baking tray, line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup!)
Step 2: Air Fry Sausages
Place the tray or basket into the pre-heated air fryer at 375 degrees. Air fry chicken sausages for about 8-10 minutes or until they have reached your desired crispiness!
Step 3: Serving
Serve hot with a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Expert Tips
- For best results, pre-heat the air fryer to ensure that the chicken sausages cook evenly.
- Leave the sausages in the air fryer for a few extra minutes if you like them crispy.
- Flip and rotate the chicken sausages halfway through cooking to make sure all sides are golden brown.
- Spray the chicken sausage with avocado oil or coconut oil before cooking to get crispy skin.
- Do not overlap the chicken sausages in the air fryer. Place them in a single layer in the basket or tray.
- When using a baking tray, I prefer parchment paper over aluminum foil. To avoid sticking you can use a non-stick spray like avocado oil.
Frequently Asked Questions
