Air Fryer Options
I actually have two styles of air fryers and recommend both depending on what fits best with your lifestyle.
Air Fryer with Sheet Pan
The first type of air fryer I have is what is shown in this post - the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Oven. This appliance is bigger and sits on my kitchen counter.
It looks more like a mini oven than an air fryer! You can use a baking tray or the metal basket. (It comes with both.) This oven can air fry, toast, bake, or dehydrate and flips up to save on counter space when it's not in use. (I use it as an air fryer and toaster the most.)
Air Fryer with Basket
The second type of air fryer I have is a basket style air fryer. This air fryer is portable and can be stored in a pantry or cabinet. Both styles can be used with this recipe!
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Marinate Salmon
Start by cutting the skinless salmon filets into 2-inch pieces. Add to a large bowl with the teriyaki sauce and stir until they're completely coated in the sauce.
Step 2: Air Fry Salmon
Add the marinated salmon onto a parchment paper lined tray or directly into a greased air fryer. Air fry at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
Step 3: Steam Broccoli
To steam the broccoli, add broccoli florets into a saucepan with about 1 inch of water. Cover the pot and let simmer until broccoli is fork tender.
Step 4: Assemble Rice Bowls
Assemble the bowls by adding rice, steamed broccoli, air fried salmon bites, and top with an extra drizzle of teriyaki sauce. For garnish add sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onion!
Expert Tips
- Speaking from experience, it's much easier to prepare the salmon when you buy it without the skin. You can remove the skin yourself, but you'll need a sharp knife and patience.
- Use a paper towel to pat dry the salmon before marinating.
- Marinate the salmon the night before or the morning of to achieve maximum flavor!
- Do not overcook the salmon or it will dry out! It does not take long to cook salmon when it's cut into small cubes.
- Make sure you cut the salmon bites into similar size bites so they cook evenly in the air fryer.
- If you use a baking tray, line it with parchment paper to keep the salmon from sticking. If you use a basket style air fryer, spray with a nonstick oil like avocado oil or coconut oil.
