🍴Ingredient Notes
- Chickpeas - Also known as garbanzo beans! Be sure to drain the chickpea liquid and rinse the beans well.
- Olive Oil - I suggest using high quality extra virgin olive oil for best results.
- Lemon Juice - Freshly squeezed works best.
- Red Wine Vinegar - Do not swap for any other type of vinegar.
- Garlic - If you're not a fan of garlic, just skip this ingredient! Using a small clove of garlic will give a subtle hint without being too overpowering.
- Salt & Black Pepper
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Add Ingredients into Food Processor
Drain the can of chickpeas, rinse well, then pat dry. Next, add all ingredients into a food processor. Blend on low speed until most of the ingredients are blended together. Scrape down the edges as needed.
Step 2: Blend Hummus
Once the hummus is pretty smooth, turn the food processor to the high setting for a creamy consistency. Add extra olive oil if it has trouble blending.
Step 3: Chill & Serve
Store in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow all of the flavors to blend together.
Serving Suggestions
- For a healthy snack, dip with raw veggies like carrot sticks, cucumbers, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes.
- Serve with gluten-free bread, sourdough bread, or spread on toast.
- For some crunch, dip with gluten-free crackers or tortilla chips. (I love Siete chips because they're grain free!)
- Top rice bowls or salads for extra flavor and creaminess
Expert Tips
- If you have trouble blending, you can add a little cold water or more olive oil.
- Make sure you scrape down the edges with a small spatula.
- Be sure to store the hummus in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. This allows the flavors to blend together, and it tastes best when chilled!
How to Store Leftovers
Store leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Best served and enjoyed fresh!
