🍴Ingredient Notes
- Gluten Free Bread - For this recipe you will need about ½ of a loaf of stale gluten free bread. Homemade or store-bought works! I have a Cassava Flour Bread recipe and an Almond Flour Bread recipe. (Both are dairy-free.)
- Olive Oil - To give these croutons a little crunch, I like drizzling olive oil over the bread cubes before they go in the oven.
- Herbs & Spices - Feel free to add any additional flavor to your croutons! Garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, black pepper, oregano, or extra salt would be delicious additions.
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Cutting the bread
Cut the bread into slices and then into small cubes. Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Step 2: Drizzle Olive Oil
Drizzle the croutons with olive oil and use your hand to toss them around until fully coated.
Step 3: Baking
Bake or air fry at 325 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. (Until golden brown.) Let the croutons cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Expert Tips
- If you make a large batch, freeze half for later! Defrost on the counter and bake for a few minutes to warm them up.
- Feel free to add spices and herbs to give them more flavor! See ingredients notes for more information.
- In the summer I like using a toaster oven or air fryer for small batches to keep the house cool!
- Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
How to store leftovers
Leftover croutons can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
If you would like to serve warm, just air fry, bake, or warm them up on a skillet for a few minutes.
