Air Fryer Options
I actually have two styles of air fryers and recommend both depending on what fits best with your lifestyle.
Basket Style Air Fryer
The first type of air fryer I have is a basket style air fryer. This air fryer is portable and can be stored in a pantry or cabinet.
The only downside is that you will need to cook the meatballs in two batches because the air fryer basket is much smaller.
Multi-Purpose Air Fryer
The second style air fryer I have is my Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Oven. This appliance is bigger and sits on my kitchen counter.
I like using this style for larger batches of food because it comes with a baking tray. (Which is what I used for this recipe.)
It looks more like a mini oven than an air fryer! It can air fry, toast, bake, or dehydrate and flips up to save on counter space when it's not in use. (I use it as an air fryer and toaster the most.)
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Mix Meatball Batter
Start by adding ground chicken, coconut flour, egg, and all spices into a bowl. Mix until fully combined.
Step 2: Shape into Meatballs
Use a cookie scoop or large spoon to make meatballs. (It should yield around 18 meatballs.)
Step 3: Air Fry Meatballs
Place the meatballs on a parchment paper lined try or greased air fryer basket. Air fry at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
Expert Tips
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature is 165 degrees before serving.
- Do not overmix the ground chicken. Fold in the flour, egg, and spices until it is combined.
- Use a small cookie scoop to make even sized meatballs.
- If you're using an air fryer basket, you will need to cook the meatballs in two batches. Do not overcrowd the basket.
- Make sure you spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with coconut oil or avocado oil to prevent sticking.
- Do not overcook or they will dry out!
How to store leftovers
Leftover meatballs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
You can also freeze the cooked chicken meatballs for up to 2 months in a freezer safe container!
To re-heat chicken meatballs, air fry at 375 degrees for about 2 minutes.
