Why I love this Caramel Dip!
I recently tested a new recipe using this sauce and I had some leftover in the fridge, so I sliced some apples and started dipping them in the sauce. MY MIND WAS BLOWN. How did I not think of this sooner?? I instantly remembered this was A THING. Remember in the produce section they always had a packaged caramel fruit dip?? (I'll insert a picture below.) I always begged my mom to buy it, but it was rare when she did. I'm sure it was loaded with a ton of sugar and crappy unnecessary ingredients. (BUT IT TASTED DELISHH.)
This is the PERFECT healthy alternative! I promise it tastes JUST LIKE the caramel dip in the store. (But less sugar, and more fiber!) HELLO DATES. If you have kids, or if you love snacking, you need this healthy caramel sauce in your fridge at ALL times. It's guaranteed to satisfy any sweet cravings!!
🍴Ingredient Notes
- Pitted Medjool Dates
- Boiling Water
- Salt
- Maple Syrup - You can sub with honey.
🍴Step by Step Instructions
- Start by boiling a cup of water. Add the cup of water into a larger glass/ceramic bowl. Next add your 10 pitted dates. Let them soak for 10 minutes.
- Once they have soaked for 10 minutes, add the dates and the water they were soaking in into your blender. Blend until the mixture is creamy. (There should not be any chunks.) I use the puree setting on my Ninja Blender.
- Transfer the date mixture into a small sauce pan. Use a spatula to scrape the edges. Turn the heat to medium/high.
- Next add your maple syrup and salt. Use a whisk to continuously stir. Once it starts bubbling, turn to a low heat setting.
- Set your timer for 20 minutes, and let simmer. Stirring occasionally.
- Once your sauce has simmered for twenty minutes, transfer to a glass Tupperware container. Place in the fridge until it has completely cooled.
HEALTHY SNACK TIP: Dip apple slices in caramel, roll them in shredded coconut, and serve on a platter! Great for kids!
How to store leftovers
I store my leftover sauce in an air tight glass Tupperware container! It will last about 10 days in the refrigerator. You can also use mason jars!

Patricia
I tried to make this and it didn’t seem to make enough to work in my blender. I was wondering if I was supposed to use the water that I soaked the dates in as well.
Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi Patricia! Sorry for the confusion, I just updated the post to be more specific. The water and the dates should go in the blender! It will create a creamy mixture which will then be boiled down.

Such a yummy snack! I tastes just like caramel!
