Why You'll Love This Recipe
Pineapple Sorbet is the perfect light and refreshing treat to enjoy on a hot day! (It's one of my favorite healthy deserts!)
Traditional sorbet recipes combine water and white sugar to make a simple syrup. Not only does this require more time, but it also uses refined sugar.
This creamy Pineapple Sorbet recipe is naturally sweetened with fruit which makes it a healthy and delicious alternative to Dole Whip! It's a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without a ton of added sugar.
Best of all, this homemade pineapple sorbet is easy to make, and you only need two simple ingredients.
🍴Ingredient Notes
- Fresh Pineapple- You can purchase frozen pineapple or cut and freeze a ripe pineapple yourself!
- Filtered Water - In order for the frozen pineapple to blend, you will need a liquid. You can use filtered water or coconut water.
Recipe Variations
- To give this recipe more of a tropical flavor, swap the water for coconut milk or coconut cream! You can also add a splash of lime juice.
- For a stronger pineapple flavor, swap the water for pineapple juice. (This will also make it much sweeter!)
- I love using finely shredded coconut and dark chocolate chips for toppings!
- Pour the pineapple mixture into ice pop molds to make them into popsicles!

🍴Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Cut & Freeze Fresh Pineapple
Start by adding the fresh cut pineapple pieces to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for 3-4 hours.
Step 2: Blend Frozen Pineapple
Next, place the frozen pineapple chunks and water into a food processor or high-speed blender. Blend together until smooth and creamy. Add more water as needed!
Expert Tips
- For easy blending, let the frozen pineapple sit out on the kitchen counter for 5-10 minutes to defrost a bit.
- Add more water if you're having trouble blending the frozen pineapple.
- Don't forget to scrape down the edges with a spatula while the sorbet is blending.
- For best results, cut and freeze fresh pineapple instead of using store bought frozen pineapple.
- If you don't have a food processor, you can also use a heavy-duty blender like a Vitamix. Both will achieve the right consistency.
- To prevent sticking and make cleanup easier, place pineapple on a parchment paper lined baking tray.
- For a firmer sorbet, scoop the pineapple from the food processor or blender into cups and freeze for about 15 minutes before serving.
Pineapple Cutting Tips
The easiest way to cut a pineapple is by using a Pineapple Corer. Once you cut off the top of the pineapple, use this tool to easily remove the core and the thick outer peel.
It will leave you with perfectly cut round pineapple pieces! Before freezing, cut the circles into smaller, bite sized pieces to make it easier to freeze & blend.
