🍴Ingredient Notes
- Flat Iron Steak - Or any thin steak without a bone. I personally love Butcher Box meat because there are no added hormones, and the cows are grass fed AND grass finished!
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil - You can also use avocado oil.
- Spices - Chili Powder, Cumin, Garlic Powder, and Cayenne Pepper. If you don't have all these individual spices, you can sub with a taco spice mix!
🍴Step by Step Instructions
Preparing the steak
Start by adding all of the spices into a small bowl and mix together. Add the steak into a large mixing bowl with olive oil. Pour the spices on top and mix around until they're evenly coated. Place in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes. Next turn your oven to 375 degrees. Bake the cast iron skillet for about 10 minutes to warm it up.
Baking the steak
Once the cast iron skillet is hot, carefully remove from the oven. Place each piece of steak in the skillet and bake for about 6-10 minutes. (Time will vary depending on how thin the steak is.) Slice the steak into strips and serve with vegetables and rice!

Personally, I like serving mine with the classic peppers and onions, rice, fresh cilantro, and slices of avocado. Sometimes I'll also serve them with grain-free tortillas! (Siete is my favorite brand.)
I personally like to so the steak starts cooking immediately. Just be careful removing the skillet from the oven.
Yes! You can marinate the steak overnight for extra flavor. Just store in an airtight container until you're ready to cook!
How to store leftovers
If you have leftovers, they can easily be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator. I usually store mine right with the vegetables! I have not tried freezing the steak, but I imagine it would freeze great!
