Chocolate Covered Orange Slices

Why I love this recipe!

Chocolate Covered Oranges are a simple yet decadent treat that only take a few minutes to make!  The combination of a sweet, juicy orange slice coated in rich, dark chocolate is absolutely irresistible. A healthier candy alternative for kids or adults!

Ingredients

Oranges - You can also swap for clementines! Any orange will work with this recipe. Make sure they're peeled and separated before dipping. Dark Chocolate Chips - My two favorite chocolate brands are Hu Kitchen and Pascha. They both offer dairy-free and soy-free dark chocolate. If you don't have chips, you can melt down a chocolate bar. Flaky Sea Salt - This isn't necessary, but it really enhances the flavors!

Preparing Oranges

Start by peeling the oranges and breaking apart the slices. Place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet or large plate.

Melt Chocolate

Next, melt dark chocolate chips in 15 second increments in the microwave. (You can also use a double boiler.) Add a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin out the chocolate if needed.

Dipping

Dip half of each orange slice into the melted chocolate. Hold the slice above the bowl to allow excess chocolate to drip off. Place on the parchment paper and repeat until all of the orange slices are coated.

Chilling

Top with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Place the orange slices in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to set. Enjoy!

Expert Tips

– Add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the chocolate for a thinner and smoother consistency. – Dip the slices halfway for a beautiful color contrast. (It also keeps your hands from getting dirty!) – Place the oranges on a parchment paper lined baking sheet for easy transfer into the refrigerator. (This will also prevent sticking.) – Pre-peel all of the oranges before dipping in chocolate for a smoother process.
