Equipment

  • Large Saute Pan

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ Cup Diced Sweet Onion
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • ¼ Teaspoon Paprika
  • ¼ Teaspoon Garlic Powder

Instructions

  • Start by adding ground beef, spices, egg, and onion into a bowl. I prefer using a hand mixer to blend because my hands don't get dirty, but you could also use a large spoon! (Or your hands!) Blend until fully combined - it's important not to over mix.
  • Next, turn your burner to medium/high heat. Let the non-stick pan pre-heat while you make the burger patties.
  • Roll the burger mixture into four large balls, then gently flatten them out to the thickness you want. It should make about 4-5 patties depending on how big you want them.
  • Add one burger at a time to your pre-heated pan. Let them cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side. (5 minutes on each side will make a medium/well done burger.)
  • Serve with roasted veggies, on a bed of lettuce, or with your favorite gluten-free bun!

Helpful Tips

  • My favorite pan to cook these burgers is a non-toxic, non-stick pan by the brand Rad USA. I use their 12 inch pan! It's honestly THE BEST pan I have ever used - nothing sticks to it!! You can shop through my Amazon store.
  • I recently discovered a life changing tip for mixing ground beef.. use a stand mixer or hand mixer. Add all of your ingredients into the mixing bowl, turn the mixer on a medium speed, and blend until it's fully combined! It's important not to over mix or else the burgers will be tough.
  • When the burgers are cooking, try not to touch them! Place them directly on the heated pan, set the timer, flip, and set the timer again. You should only touch them when you flip them over!
  • Don't cut open the burgers when they're done cooking. If you open them up, you'll release all the juices! (No one wants a dry burger!)

Serving Options

  • On your favorite gluten-free bun
  • Over a bed of lettuce
  • In between two "sweet potato buns" - Just roast thick slices of sweet potato.
  • With a side of roasted or steamed vegetables
  • On top of a salad

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these burgers on a grill instead?
Yes of course! I prefer the stovetop because it's quick and easy, but you can make them the traditional way on the grill too!
What's your favorite Whole30 Ketchup option?
I love the Primal Kitchen Ketchup - it has an amazing flavor! Even if you're not doing Whole30, I prefer using no added sugar ketchup.

How to store leftovers

You can store leftover burgers in an air tight container. (I prefer glass containers.) They will stay fresh for about 4-5 days in the refrigerator.
